Whatis your view of the EV market, especially in scooters?

The EV scooter market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by increasing environmental concerns and strong government incentives promoting clean mobility. As consumers shift towards more eco-friendly transportation, electric scooters have become an ideal alternative to traditional fuel-powered vehicles. Government support is encouraging both manufacturers and consumers to adopt electric vehicles, further accelerating the sector's expansion. The market therefore is becoming highly competitive, with a strong focus on performance, range, and affordability. Consumers are looking for electric scooters that not only contribute to sustainability but also deliver robust performance, long battery life, and a competitive price point. Companies are innovating to meet these expectations, enhancing battery technology and charging infrastructure while keeping costs accessible. With the market maturing, competition is expected to intensify, offering consumers a wider variety of high-quality, cost-effective electric scooters to choose from.

How is your product portfolio segmented in terms of price and features?

At ZELIO E Mobility, we are proud of our extensive product portfolio, which is strategically segmented into 12 models, catering to a wide range of customer needs, with prices ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000. This ensures we meet the diverse demands of both budget-conscious buyers and premium customers. Our low-speed offerings include the GRACY series with the GRACYi, GRACY Pro, and GRACY+, which provide affordable, reliable, and stylish options for urban commuters. The X-Men series complements this with practical and durable models for everyday use. For more discerning customers, the Eeva series — including the Eeva, Eeva Eco, and Eeva ZX+ — offers a blend of performance and style. Recently, we introduced the Mystery high-speed scooter, which boasts a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of 100 km per charge, offering an enhanced riding experience. In addition, we have ventured into the electric rickshaw segment with the launch of our Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS models, designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly shared transportation solutions. This comprehensive range positions ZELIO as a key player in the evolving Indian EV market, providing both high-performance and affordable options for riders across India.

How are your e-scooters different from those in the marketplace?

Our e-scooters distinguish themselves in the marketplace through a combination of superior battery technology, highly efficient motors, and advanced controller systems. These key components work together to ensure a longer lifespan, providing consumers with a more reliable and durable ride. Our focus on innovation is evident in the design of our scooters, which not only enhance performance but also offer sleek aesthetics that appeal to modern riders. We prioritize efficiency and sustainability without compromising on speed or comfort, making our e-scooters a standout choice for those seeking high performance and longevity in their electric two-wheeler. For instance, the X-Men 2.0 is engineered for optimal energy efficiency, consuming only 1.5 units of electricity per charge while offering an impressive range of up to 100 kilometers. Since our inception in 2021, we have built a loyal customer base with over 200,000 satisfied riders who trust our products for their reliability, performance, and eco-friendly features.

What are the key features of your e-scooters?

Our e-scooters are equipped with a range of key features designed to enhance both performance and convenience for riders. The long-range batteries ensure that users can travel longer distances without worrying about frequent recharges, while the hassle-free warranty and fast charging capabilities provide additional peace of mind. Our smart connectivity features, including digital displays and real-time battery monitoring, enable riders to stay informed about their scooter’s status, further elevating the user experience. To enhance safety, we incorporate advanced braking systems, superior suspension for a smooth ride, and security features such as central locking and anti-theft alarms. Our eco-friendly design aligns with sustainability goals, while the practical additions of USB charging ports ensure that riders stay connected on the go.

Are your scooters available pan India?

In a span of just a few years, our scooters have become available across India through a robust distribution network of 273 dealerships spanning 23 states. We have firmly established our presence in key regions such as West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. We are now actively expanding into new markets, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, and several North-Eastern states. By March 2025, we plan to grow our dealership network to 400 outlets, making our innovative electric vehicles even more accessible to customers across the country.

How many e-scooters do you sell in a calendar year? What kind of targets are you looking for in the next three years?

We currently sell thousands of e-scooters annually, reflecting our growing popularity and increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. Over the next three years, we are targeting a 70% increase in sales year-on-year, driven by our expanding product portfolio, improved market penetration, and broader consumer adoption of electric mobility. With plans to grow our dealership network and strengthen our presence across new regions, we are confident in achieving these ambitious targets and continuing to lead the charge in India’s electric two-wheeler market.

What is your target audience for your e-scooters?

Our target audience primarily includes young urban professionals, students, and eco-conscious consumers who are seeking an efficient, sustainable, and stylish mode of transportation. These groups are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of traditional vehicles and are drawn to the affordability, performance, and convenience that our e-scooters offer. Whether it's navigating the busy city streets or reducing their carbon footprint, our scooters meet the needs of individuals who value both eco-friendliness and practicality, making them an ideal choice for today’s forward-thinking consumers.

Are you planning for the export markets?

We are actively planning to expand into export markets, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia and Europe. These regions present significant growth opportunities for electric mobility, and we believe our innovative, eco-friendly e-scooters will resonate with consumers who are increasingly prioritizing sustainability and efficient transportation solutions. As we continue to strengthen our brand presence domestically, we are also strategically preparing to enter these international markets, aiming to establish ZELIO E Mobility as a leading player in the global electric vehicle landscape.

What is your current production capacity and when do you plan to ramp up?

Currently, our production capacity stands at 150,000 units annually. However, with the increasing demand for electric scooters and our ambitious growth plans, we are preparing to ramp up production substantially. Over the next two years, we aim to increase our capacity to 500,000 units per year. This expansion will enable us to meet the rising consumer demand, improve accessibility, and further solidify our position as a leader in the electric mobility space. Our focus on scaling up production will also support our continued expansion into new markets, both domestically and internationally.

Which are your key markets and why?

Our key markets are primarily urban centres with high population density, where the demand for sustainable and efficient transportation solutions is on the rise. These regions also tend to have strong EV adoption rates, driven by increasing environmental awareness and government incentives that promote clean mobility. In addition to metropolitan cities, we focus on areas where infrastructure for electric vehicles is expanding, including charging stations and green transport initiatives. These factors, combined with a growing base of eco-conscious consumers, make these markets ideal for our e-scooters, ensuring a steady demand for our products and contributing to the acceleration of India’s transition to sustainable urban mobility.
